About Me

Hi. I'm Carly. I am providing in-person individual therapy in Oakland, California. My background is in psychology, anthropology and education. I love learning about behavior patterns, how culture and family influence our beliefs, and hearing individuals' life experiences. My approach to therapy is more than just process-based. I enjoy providing psychoeducation on where our behaviors come from and why our brains tell us to focus on specific thoughts.

I love everything about therapy. I feel it's so important to have a space where difficult, frustrating or new life circumstances can be discussed and explored. Even though it can be challenging, making space for our emotions teaches us great skills, including effective communication, connection, and resilience. I want to work with you on connecting to what's important in your life and making meaningful changes, no matter how small they may seem.

I have experience supporting individuals who may be dealing with a range of concerns, including:

  • Depression and low mood

  • Anxiety and phobias

  • Relationship concerns

  • Consensual and ethical non-monogamy

  • Life transitions

  • Difficulties with self-esteem

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Boundary-setting

  • Assertive communication

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Professional/career stress

  • College/graduate school stress

  • Stress management

  • Intimate Partner Violence

  • Substance use

  • Gender identity support

  • Grief, loss, or bereavement
