Who am I?
Hi, I'm Carly (she/her). I provide in-person individual therapy in Oakland, California and individual telehealth sessions throughout California. My professional experience is in counseling psychology, anthropology and education. I am also passionate about sustainable living, social justice, accessibility and advocacy. I try to live actively, ethically and compassionately.
I approach therapy from an existential lens which means I use concepts from both psychotherapy and philosophy. Working with me involves exploring the past - that which we cannot change and may work towards accepting, processing the present - conditions in which we inhabit our lives, and exploring the future - our hopes and values from which we derive meaning and that which we want to stand for. A major component of existential exploration involves investigating the external world as support, relationships as supportive or harmful, yourself as a unique individual, and that which gives you agency and purpose. I work with individuals to process triggering, activating, difficult, and new life circumstances, as a means of improving self-awareness, self-compassion and growth.
